Azerbaijani armed forces open fire on Khnatsakh settlement

This was stated on May 8 at a press conference in Yerevan dedicated to  discussing the draft law "Who is considered "missing"? Long-awaited bill with shortcomings," by Artur  Sakunts, head of the Vanadzor office of the Helsinki Citizens'  Assembly (HCA). 

Armenia`s Security Council Chief to leave for India

ArmInfo.  Secretary of the National Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan will leave for the capital of India, New Delhi, on May 12 for a working visit.  As reported by the press service of the Security Council of Armenia,   Grigoryan will meet with National Security Advisor to Indian Prime  Minister Narendra Modi Ajit Doval. No other details were provided.

Ambassador of Belarus to Armenia honors memory of Great Patriotic War  heroes

On the eve of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Ambassador of Belarus Alexander Konyuk, along with diplomats from the Belarusian diplomatic mission and representatives from business circles in  Armenia, laid wreaths at the monument "They fought for the  Motherland, 1941-1945" in the village of Arinj, Kotayk region.  As  reported by the Embassy of Belarus in Armenia, the Embassy took the  initiative to carry out preliminary improvements to the area  surrounding the monument.

ArmInfo.  Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan categorically disagrees with the claims of the government opponents that Armenia is sliding towards totalitarianism.  In a conversation with journalists on May 8, the speaker recalled that the country was ranked 34th place in the world ranking of freedom of expression. "Totalitarianism and  freedom of speech are incompatible, this cannot be," Simonyan noted.

Boycott at Yerevan School  after Pushkin - teachers and students  protest against  dismissal of  institution`s director

ArmInfo. At Yerevan School N8, named after Pushkin, teachers and students are protesting against the dismissal of the institution's director, Natalya Stepanyan.  According to posts on Armenian social media, it became known that this morning  Stepanyan has been removed from her position as the  school's director. Both the teachers and students, along with parents  are opposed to this decision. The school has started collecting  signatures against this decision of the Ministry of Education,  Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia. The classes at the school   were cancelled today, and students have stated that they will not  return to school until Stepanyan is reinstated.
