ArmInfo.  Armenia will accede to the UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage. At an extraordinary session of the National Assembly of the  Republic of Armenia on July 3, discussions are underway on the  relevant document submitted by the Armenian government for  ratification.

ArmInfo.  Armenian authorities want to regulate issues related to illegal construction.   During an extraordinary session of the National Assembly of the  Republic of Armenia, amendments to the Civil Code and a package of  accompanying bills are being discussed in the first reading.

ArmInfo.  Armenia is currently debating the introduction of a residency requirement (a  "residency census") for participation in national elections. On July  2, during an extraordinary session, the National Assembly began the  first-reading debate on proposed amendments to the Electoral Code. 

ArmInfo.  Introducing a residency requirement in Armenia would be a rollback on democratic norms and the principles of the rule of law. This opinion was expressed by  Armenia's first Human Rights Ombudsman, Larisa Alaverdyan, in an  interview with an ArmInfo correspondent, responding to the amendments  to the Electoral Code initiated by the Armenian authorities to  introduce a residency requirement for voters.

ArmInfo.  A new water supply schedule began in Yerevan on July 1.  According to Veolia Jur CJSC, for 2.5 months, most addresses in the capital will have water supplied on a  17- to 19-hour schedule, but some administrative districts will  continue to operate on a 24-hour schedule.

ArmInfo. The European Union will allocate up to EUR200 million in grants to Azerbaijan to develop transport, energy, and digital links in the South Caucasus. European  Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced this in Baku on  July 1 after talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

ArmInfo.  The Armenian government has issued a clarification regarding the introduction of an IMEI registration system for mobile phones in the country amid widespread  public outcry.

ArmInfo. While the Constitutional Court continues to intensively work on lawsuits filed  by seven political forces to invalidate the parliamentary election  results, the ruling Civil Contract party is resolving issues related  to its positions. This was stated by lawyer Aram Vardevanyan,  representing the interests of the opposition "Strong Armenia" bloc in  the Constitutional Court, at a court hearing on July 1.
