ArmInfo. The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia has initiated a criminal case against the late former director of the National Security Service (NSS) of the  Republic, Gorik Hakobyan, and four other agency employees regarding  the events of March 1, 2008.

New charges brought against Gyumri Mayor

ArmInfo.  According to a report on an alleged crime received by the RA Investigative Committee on June 5, 2026, Vardan Ghukasyan, head of the Gyumri community in  the Shirak region, acting in conspiracy with other individuals,  carried out preparatory actions in 2025 aimed at seizing power in the  Republic of Armenia by means not provided for by the Constitution.  However, due to circumstances beyond their control, they were unable  to carry out the crime. This was reported by the Investigative  Committee.

Armenian security forces conduct searches at Armat Media

ArmInfo.  Armenian security forces are conducting searches at Armat Media. According to media reports, the media outlet is affiliated with the team of Strong  Armenia party leader Samvel Karapetyan and is owned by party member  Alik Aleksanyan.  According to editor Nelly Avetisyan, security  forces have seized computers and digital equipment from an Armenian  media outlet, effectively stripping the publication of its  operational archives.

ArmInfo.A decision has been made to detain former Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia Armen Ashotyan, Finance Minister Gagik  Khachatryan, his son Artyom Khachatryan, former Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan, former Rector of the Valery Brusov State University  Gayane Gasparyan, former Vice Rector Artur Avagyan, and former Deputy Director of the Yerevan Mall Harutyun Tadevosyan on charges of abuse  of office and money laundering in excess of 200 million drams. 

Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan placed under house arrest

ArmInfo.  Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan has been placed under house arrest. This decision was made by the Court of Appeals, which partially granted a motion filed by defense attorney Hovhannes Khudoyan.

Criminal case initiated against 37 individuals for assisting Strong  Armenia Party board member

ArmInfo. As part of ongoing criminal proceedings initiated by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, a criminal case has been launched against 37 individuals for assisting A.A. (Ed.: Alik Aleksanyan, a board  member of the "Strong Armenia" party) in financially inciting  numerous citizens to participate in rallies during 2025–2026, as well  as for large-scale money laundering. This was reported by the  Investigative Committee.

RA Prosecutor General overturns decision to dismiss criminal  prosecution against bodyguards of official

On May 27, 2026, Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan overturned the decisions of September 20, 1999, to terminate criminal prosecution against Arsen Khachatryan and Armen Khachatryan, the bodyguards of Artsrun Margaryan, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and National Security  of the Republic of Armenia. The decisions were overturned based on newly emerging circumstances and the findings of the Investigative  Committee.

Criminal investigation launched into incident in Masis

Samvel Karapetyan: 150 tailors from Tashir garment factory summoned  to  Investigative Committee

ArmInfo.  On June 3, 150 workers from the Tashir garment factory were summoned to the Investigative Committee, as stated by Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the Strong Armenia party, outside the Yerevan courthouse on June 2. He was commenting on the detention of Strong Armenia party council  member Alik Aleksanyan, alongside other supporters of the political  party.  Karapetyan pointed out that those summoned are not factory  managers, but the tailors themselves.

Decision to terminate prosecution against former vice-chief RA Police  overturned

ArmInfo.The Prosecutor General's Office announced on August 14, 2025, that Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Anna Vardapetyan overturned the January 30, 2020, decision to terminate the criminal prosecution against former Deputy Chief of Police Sasha Afyan. A public criminal  case was opened against Sasha Afyan, and the criminal trial materials, supported by the indictment, were submitted to court on  January 9, 2026, where the main hearings are currently underway.

Iveta Tonoyan: PAP`s legal team to sue PTA for remarks against  Tsarukyan
