ArmInfo. The economies of Armenia and Turkey are competitors, not complementary. Armenia doesn't have any agricultural goods suitable for export to Turkey or Azerbaijan, as stated by Robert Kocharyan, the second president of Armenia and leader of the opposition "Armenia," bloc, in the latest episode of the "Big Politics" podcast.
The politician noted that Pashinyan enjoys the greatest support from those living in villages, yet he is the one who could destroy their homes.
"You can't export anything to either Turkey or Azerbaijan; it will be exactly the opposite. In Turkey, their market is protected by subsidies, and in Azerbaijan, energy resources are cheaper, making their products more competitive. We are competitors in the Russian market," he noted, adding that the Russian market has no limits for Armenia. "These authorities could bring economic disaster upon Armenia. They will destroy agriculture, and then say, 'We lost agriculture, but gained independence,'" Kocharyan said.
