ArmInfo. Armenia's position on CSTO membership is known and has not changed. Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan stated this in a conversation with ArmInfo in response to a question about whether the Armenian authorities are considering a meeting with the CSTO Secretary General.
"Armenia's position on the CSTO is known both within the organization and publicly. There is nothing to add to this," she said.
It should be noted that on April 6, during a meeting with CSTO Secretary General Taalatbek Masadykov, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko considered it important to organize meetings between the CSTO Secretary General and the Armenian leadership. According to Lukashenko, it would be a good idea for Masadykov to visit Yerevan and speak with the Prime Minister, the President, and the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia to determine their position going forward.
As a reminder, Armenia has been boycotting CSTO events since late 2022. In February 2024, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia had effectively frozen its participation in the CSTO, as the organization had failed to fulfill its obligations to Armenia, which would inevitably have consequences. And on September 18, 2024, at the Second World Armenian Summit, Pashinyan stated that the CSTO posed threats to Armenia's security, its continued existence, sovereignty, and statehood.
