David's classmate described him as a wonderful, very reserved person, who had never been involved in conflicts.
David Minasyan is currently in the intensive care unit of the Nairi Medical Center.
According to David's lawyer, his condition has deteriorated sharply – the young man has been experiencing shortness of breath and a headache since last night. During their morning visit to the penitentiary, the defense did not have time to speak with Minasyan, as he was hospitalized at that moment, stating that he needed inpatient treatment.
As a reminder, the arrested student, David Minasyan, was transferred today from the Armavir Correctional Facility to the Abovyan Correctional Facility. He became ill there and was then taken to the Abovyan Medical Center, and then to the Nairi Medical Center.
As a reminder, on April 1, the court ordered the pretrial detention of 18-year-old David Minasyan for two months. The investigation accuses him of offenses under Part 1 of Article 297 of the RA Criminal Code (hooliganism) and Part 3 of Article 452 of the RA Criminal Code (interference with the lawful official or political activities of an official), which carry a prison sentence of two to five years.
The defense intends to appeal the court's decision. The incident occurred on March 29 at St. Anne's Church on Palm Sunday. David's twin brother, Mikael, and public and political figure Gevork Gevorkyan were also detained in connection with the incident. Based on the incident, the Investigative Committee of Armenia opened a criminal case against David Minasyan and Mikael Minasyan under Part 1 of Article 46-297 (assistance to hooliganism) and Part 3 of Article 46-452 (assistance to interference in the lawful official or political activities of an official). A case was opened against Gevork Gevorkyan under Part 1 of Article 46-297 (organization of hooliganism) and Part 3 of Article 46-452 (organization of interference in the lawful official or political activities of an official).
On March 31, Gevork Gevorkyan was released on bail of 5 million drams and a travel restriction. He does not admit his guilt. Mikael Minasyan was released on a travel restriction. Meanwhile, footage has also circulated online showing a member of the security service delivering a powerful blow to David Minasyan's face, causing the young man to fall and, upon rising, struggle for a long time. It's noteworthy that the Investigative Committee opened a case under the Criminal Code article "interference in the lawful official or political activity of an official," despite Prime Minister Pashinyan himself repeatedly stating that he attends Sunday liturgies solely as an ordinary parishioner of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
