
ArmInfo. French Ambassador Olivier Decottignies has formally introduced a strategic communications expert to Armenia's Minister of Environment Hambartsum Matevosyan, to assist in organizing the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17).
According to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Environment, the Ambassador announced that the French Development Cooperation Agency (Expertise France) had nominated Ani Dakmedjian for the position. Minister Matevosyan welcomed the initiative, emphasizing that effective communication is the backbone of any successful global conference.
During the meeting, the two officials discussed the roadmap for the upcoming conference, specifically focusing on the organizational processes, formats to ensure active involvement from all member states, and joint steps aimed at effective hosting of COP17. Matevosyan emphasized that Armenia, as the host country, strives to ensure that the high-level conference is inclusive and results-based, contributing to the advancement of the global biodiversity conservation agenda.
He emphasized the importance of France's active role and participation in the organizational and substantive processes of COP17, particularly through expert support, stakeholder engagement, and international initiatives. At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed the high level of cooperation between the two countries in environmental protection and climate policy, as well as their willingness to continue working together to successfully organize the conference.
