ArmInfo. The draft of Armenia's new Constitution is under discussion, including within the ruling Civil Contract faction. This was announced by the faction's secretary, Artur Hovhannisyan, at a briefing in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on March 27.
According to him, as of now, one meeting with the authors of the country's Basic Law has been held, which was of a working nature. After the publication of the text of the Constitution, discussions will continue, but with the participation of broader sections of society and in an open format. Everything being discussed today, Hovhannisyan continued, is a working document.
In turn, ruling faction MP Lilit Minasyan noted that, based on the ongoing public debate, it appears that the Civil Contract is the one making decisions on the country's Basic Law. "Meanwhile, this is merely the party's proposal to the public, both regarding the preface and other points. Our goal is to engage in a direct conversation with citizens, presenting our approaches and visions," Lilit Minasyan noted.
