ArmInfo. The RA Ministry of Internal Affairs accomplished a tremendous amount of work in 2025. This was stated by Arpine Sargsyan, head of the Ministry, at a March 20 meeting of the RA National Assembly Committee on Defense and Security, while presenting the results of the work completed last year in accordance with the government's 2021-2026 program.
According to the minister, since Armenia's independence, the country began to see a positive migration balance in 2025 for the first time. This, Sargsyan emphasized, means that Yerevan's commitment to peace and numerous reforms are making a difference. This trend, the minister continued, must be actively supported. Furthermore, Armenia is the only country with which the European Union is actively negotiating visa liberalization, and the first country to have an EU action plan in this area following its reforms. Armenia is also actively implementing a bilometric passport system that meets European standards.
Sarkissian also reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has undertaken unprecedented work to digitalize services. According to the World Travel Index, Armenia ranked 13th out of 193 countries in terms of tourist safety, with a score of 90.27, surpassing many European and Asian countries.
The minister emphasized that, compared to 2024, the crime rate in the country has decreased by 3.2% in 2025, demonstrating the effectiveness of the law enforcement system. Last year, 95 lives were saved on Armenian roads, despite the constant increase in vehicle traffic. Trust in the police has also increased, reaching 61%, according to surveys. Despite the increase in emergency incidents, the number of victims in 2025 decreased by 1,601 cases, and the number of deaths by 59.
