ArmInfo. Any country that provides its territory to the United States and Israel will become a legitimate target for Iran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated this in a telephone conversation with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov, according to Pars Today.
"According to international law, no country has the right to provide its territory and resources for aggressive actions by other states. Iran's defensive measures are aimed exclusively against aggressors, as well as against bases and facilities used to attack Iran," he noted.
On March 5, Azerbaijan announced that four Iranian drones had attacked Nakhchivan. In this regard, the Iranian ambassador was summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. Moreover, on the same day, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev convened a meeting of the country's Security Council and decided to rattle his sabre in front of Iran. As usual, Aliyev threatened Azerbaijan with an "iron fist," labeled the incident terrorism, and promised a proportionate response. Furthermore, Azerbaijan temporarily closed its border with Iran, suspended checkpoints with Iran, and withdrew its diplomatic personnel from the country. Interestingly, all of these actions occurred after Iran, at the level of its Foreign Ministry and General Staff, denied any involvement in the attack on Nakhchivan airport. However, independent experts are inclined to believe that Azerbaijan is thus preparing the ground for possible involvement in the conflict against Iran on the side of the United States and Israel.
