ArmInfo. Former Chief of the General Staff of Armenia, Tiran Khachatryan, considers the Armenian Ministry of Defense's comment regarding the occupation of new Armenian territories by Azerbaijan, as previously indicated by Arman Tatoyan, leader of the "Wings of Unity" political initiative, to be out of touch with reality.
"You know, there were very interesting comments from them (the Armenian Ministry of Defense - ed.) regarding Google Maps and real cartographers. Anyone who commented on Google Maps is not a cartographer and has no understanding of maps. If anyone tries to compare Google Maps data with the maps of the Armenian General Staff, they will realize that their comment on this matter is completely false. If you remember, the press secretary of the Ministry of Defense commented on the situation on behalf of the Armenian authorities," Khachatryan said, suggesting that the public provide an objective assessment of the situation. As a reminder, members of the initiative previously held a protest outside the Armenian Ministry of Defense and handed over a statement with satellite images and coordinates confirming that Azerbaijanis had invaded Armenia's sovereign territory. However, the Ministry of Defense denied these claims, stating that Azerbaijani forces had made no advance and that the new Azerbaijani position was located on their own territory. While denying this, the Ministry of Defense apparently unwittingly confirmed the enemy's advance.
As a reminder, Arman Tatoyan, leader of the Wings of Unity political initiative, previously reported that a new Azerbaijani incursion had been recorded on Armenian sovereign territory, about which the Armenian authorities had failed to inform the public. Specifically, he reported that, according to available information, Azerbaijan had established combat positions in Vardenis, as well as points for small arms, mortars, and other large-caliber weapons. Communications had been established, the Sotk gold mine in the Vardenis community was directly targeted, solar panels had been installed, operational-tactical and strategic roads had been constructed, and shelters had been constructed through which they could penetrate deep into Armenian territory. A similar situation, according to Tatoyan, was observed in Jermuk, where positions for mortars had been built. However, on the same day, Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, speaking from the podium of the country's parliament, dismissed Tatoyan's claims as lies.
Later, the Armenian Ministry of Defense prepared a video supposedly refuting the invasion. However, the facts presented by the Ministry of Defense proved the seizure of new Armenian territories.
