ArmInfo.Another downpour in the Armenian capital has paralyzed traffic on several streets and exposed the incompetence of Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan.
The light rain that fell in the Armenian capital this morning turned Yerevan's streets into impassable, deep rivers, where, perhaps, only gondolas are suitable for travel. An ArmInfo correspondent observed the dire situation on Gyurjyan Street. Drivers were literally forced to float along the road. The situation was exacerbated by the huge potholes in the roads, which, under the current conditions, made it impossible for drivers to avoid them. The result was a flooded and damaged vehicle.
Social media users are also posting images from other parts of the city where traffic was hampered by the huge puddles that had formed. The footage also shows damaged cars lined up along the side of the road. However, the mayor of Yerevan not only ignores these city problems, but always comes up with a new excuse for what's happened: a month's worth of rainfall, or two months' worth, or something else entirely.
He's deaf to Yerevan residents' calls to stop cutting down the capital's green space and building high-rises on every scrap, and instead address the city's sewer system and roads, which already resemble a bombed- out field. Meanwhile, Yerevan residents are forced to continue breathing dust, spending half their salaries on repairing their vehicles, and hoping for elections soon to remove the officials who continue to blight Yerevan residents' lives with their incompetent management.
