ArmInfo. The majority of Armenian citizens living in Russia will vote for the ruling party. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed this conviction during a briefing on March 12, commenting at journalists' request on the claim that one of Armenia's political forces registered a large number of buses in late May and early June to transport Armenian citizens from Russia to Armenia for the elections.
"I have no doubt about this," the Prime Minister emphasized. He also noted that such events should first and foremost be given a legal assessment.
It should be noted that on March 10, 2026, the Foreign Intelligence Service of Armenia issued a statement regarding pressure on Armenian citizens in another country and interference in the upcoming elections. According to a crime report received from the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, during the exercise of operational intelligence, factual information was obtained indicating that the leaders and officials of certain parties operating in Armenia's political arena are obstructing the free exercise of individuals' electoral rights. They act on behalf of the foreign country's intelligence services, engaging various actors, including leading businessmen of the other country, Armenian community leaders, and representatives of criminal organizations, exerting pressure on individuals of Armenian descent and RA citizens engaged in economic activity in the other country, pushing them to take actions in support of parties applying to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia.
In exchange, under various pretexts, they offer to organize travel from the other country to Armenia, reimburse travel expenses, and cover the costs of their stay in Armenia, thereby using financial or other forms of dependence to coerce individuals into participating in the elections.
In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been opened at the Main Department for the Investigation of Particularly Grave Cases of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia under paragraphs 3 and 6 of Part 2 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code (obstruction by a group of persons with prior consent of the exercise of the right to participate in an election or referendum) and paragraph 3 of Part 3 of the same article (coercion of a person to vote in a referendum or election by any means). As a reminder, parliamentary elections in Armenia will be held on June 7, 2026.
