


ArmInfo. Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan, the head of the Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, has filed a lawsuit against former priest Stepan Asatryan, according to the Datalex judicial information system website.
The archbishop is demanding a retraction of the slanderous information, as well as compensation for damages to his honor and dignity. Also, Archbishop Ajapahyan is seeking a public retraction of claims made by Asatryan regarding the Archbishop's personal life-specifically, the allegation that he has a secret wife and daughter.
The civil lawsuit was filed on February 26, 2026 and has been assigned to Judge Emin Abgaryan. It is also reported that the court has returned the claim with the attached documents for the correction of errors indicated in the claim within three days.
