ArmInfo. The current Armenian authorities are already trying at the highest level to implement the so-called "Western Azerbaijan" project, as stated by military expert Hayk Nahapetyan during debates in Yerevan on "Guaranteed Peace or 'Western Azerbaijan,' on March 6. Also, he added that there is already information confirming this fact.
Specifically, he reported that, according to his information, a new director of the Institute of History has been appointed at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, who, together with the institute's academic staff, is considering the issue of including Azerbaijani toponyms used before 1991 on a new map of Armenia.
"It is also reported that this order came from the Cadastre Committee of Armenia. Moreover, according to the Academy's academic community, the newly appointed director is trying to persuade colleagues to implement this through monetary reward," the expert added.
According to Nahapetyan, an information bulletin will be compiled based on this map, which will, for instance, indicate the regions where Azerbaijanis lived between 1988 and 1991. According to the military expert, steps are already being taken at the state level to create conditions allowing Azerbaijan to fulfill its latest demand and resettle 300,000 Azerbaijanis in Armenia.
Speaking about whether this is feasible, Nahapetyan pointed out that similar practices exist, for example, in the history of Israel (the Golan Heights, a territory annexed by Israel in 1981 - ed.). In his opinion, a similar scenario is being imposed on Armenia today, in which the question is not even about the country's political orientation, economic development, or choice of allies, but whether Armenians will live in Armenia or not.
"And if this still seems unrealistic to some, I assure you: it will become our reality if there is no resistance from the Armenian side," the expert concluded.
