ArmInfo.Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan hopes that the countries of the region will seize the historic opportunity to "overcome the region's difficult fate." He made this statement at a joint press event with his Armenian counterpart, Irakli Kobakhidze, in Tbilisi on March 4.
He noted that the key goal of developing the political agenda is to ensure economic results. In this context, Pashinyan noted the importance of the fact that today, at the 15th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Armenia and Georgia, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the regional and international agendas in order to "identify greater potential for expanding cooperation." Pashinyan thanked Kobakhidze for his personal support for the Armenia- Azerbaijan peace process, and "the people and the Georgian state of" for their continued assistance.
"This support continues, as economic ties are being established today with Georgia's support and assistance," he noted. The head of the Armenian government highlighted the well-established economic cooperation between the countries, as well as the fact that Georgia remains the most attractive destination for Armenian tourists.
Pashinyan also emphasized the active cooperation between Yerevan and Tbilisi on international platforms. " We consider it important to establish long-term stability and peace in the region based on Georgia's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and political independence. Armenia and Azerbaijan have built and are building peace on this very foundation. I believe this is a historic opportunity for our region.
I wish for long-term peace to be firmly established in Georgia as well. Frankly, we are extremely interested in this, as we see great potential for overcoming the historically difficult fate of our region." We hope that this opportunity will be used," he said.
