ArmInfo. Events in and around Iran should be a lesson for Armenia, but they also offer good opportunities for the country. Narek Karapetyan, a member of the board of the Strong Armenia party, stated this in an interview with Armenia TV.
According to him, the lesson for the republic is that achieving peace with Azerbaijan requires guarantors of the Armenian state's security. Iran, having numerous deals with the West but lacking security guarantees, is now facing off against superpowers and regional countries. "Peace can only be achieved if, in addition to agreements, there are additional security guarantees. Moreover, there must be more than one guarantor, so that no single country can put Armenia's interests second while prioritizing its own. With two or more guarantors, it is possible to establish a long-term and lasting peace in the region," said Narek Karapetyan.
He added that as a result of military action, Iran's economic potential will significantly decline, turning it into a raw materials exporter. Such a development could have a positive impact on Armenia, which will have the opportunity to import cheap raw materials, such as petroleum products and raw materials for the metallurgical production chain, which will become complementary and interesting avenues for Armenia. "From an economic standpoint, Iran will continue to be an interesting neighbor for our country, with whom we can build a mutually complementary field," noted the board member of the Strong Armenia party.
Narek Karapetyan predicted that the Iranian rial would depreciate as a result of the military conflict, leading to a decline in prices for exported goods and, consequently, potentially positively impacting the competitiveness of Armenian-produced goods.
