ArmInfo.US and Israeli aggression against Iran threatens peace and security in the South Caucasus, as stated by Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami at a press conference in Yerevan on March 2.
"US and Israeli aggression threatens peace and security in the region. And the continuation of this aggression will create unfavorable conditions for the countries of the region," the diplomat said. According to Shirgholami, those who irresponsibly committed this aggression have jeopardized international peace and security. "A friendly Armenia and its security are extremely important to us. Armenia's territorial integrity is a red line for us. We would like Armenia not to suffer any losses as a result of these actions by those who violate international law," the Iranian Ambassador to Armenia emphasized.
He also accused the international civilized community of remaining silent and encouraging this lawlessness, and in the case of some European countries, of complicity in this aggression. He acknowledged that the Armenian authorities had expressed condolences to Iran today and even stated their readiness to provide humanitarian aid if needed.
At the same time, Shirgholami reported that representatives of Armenian civil society, various organizations, and ordinary Armenian citizens have sent him words of support and condolences. "This isn't surprising to us, as the Armenian and Iranian peoples are friendly and should always support each other. However, I also want to express my regret at the position of a group of analysts who, without any serious basis, continue to promote a Western vector in Armenia. I cannot understand the motives for such behavior and can only advise abandoning this erroneous vector," the Iranian ambassador said, adding that "those who promote Zionist theses in Armenia are fortunately a minority."
