ArmInfo. Taking into account inflation over the past eight years, the pension supplement will be enough to purchase the same amount of goods as in 2018. Ashot Markosyan, a member of the "Our Way" movement, stated this in a video address.
According to him, the authorities previously claimed that pensioners didn't know how to spend 10,000 drams, but elections are coming up, and it turns out they know exactly how. "We've decided to increase pensions by an average of 8,000 drams starting April 1st. Dear pensioners, since 2018, prices have risen so much that even if we refer to official inflation statistics, your pensions are practically at the same level as they were in 2018. That is, you can buy the same amount of goods with your pension as you did eight years ago," said the movement's representative, calling on the country's authorities not to portray the situation as doing people a favor. "You're only paying for the price difference," noted Ashot Markosyan.
As a reminder, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan previously announced a 10,000 drams pension increase starting April 1st. This decision was perceived by many as a pre-election ploy, as elections to the National Assembly are in three months. This is especially true since government officials had previously claimed that the 10,000 drams pension increase would not solve anything.
