Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, at a meeting with Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, announced the Islamic Republic's readiness to complete the development of a comprehensive strategic partnership document with Armenia, emphasizing that expanding bilateral ties would be in the interests of both countries.
Pezeshkian emphasized Iran's determination to expand and deepen comprehensive relations with neighboring countries, particularly Armenia.
"No matter how much relations in the political, economic, transport, energy, and infrastructure spheres improve, the interests of the two countries will be protected as never before," he said, in the context of Iran's readiness to conclude a strategic document with Armenia, IRNA reports.
Pezeshkian pointed to the favorable trend in economic, trade, and corridor cooperation between the two countries, calling this a sign of a shared desire to exploit mutual opportunities. "Our primary policy is to support peace, stability, and sustainable security in the region, and we in no way seek instability or tension, as any instability will harm all countries in the region," he stated.
The Iranian President also expressed satisfaction with the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, calling it a positive step toward strengthening security and expanding regional cooperation. Referring to his recent visit to Armenia, Pezeshkian described the trip as constructive and fruitful, noting that all agreements reached are being seriously considered by the relevant ministries and agencies, and expressing hope that their full implementation will enhance cooperation at the bilateral and regional levels. For his part, Papikyan conveyed the greetings of the Armenian Prime Minister and described bilateral relations as strong, stable, and expanding, expressing hope that the issues facing Iran will be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue.
Earlier, the Iranian Ambassador to Armenia announced the preparation of a strategic document. He also announced that a visit by the Armenian prime minister to Tehran is being planned for 2026. In turn, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan confirmed the upcoming visit, but declined to specify a timeframe. Pashinyan noted that the visit will take place when the strategic document between Armenia and Iran is finalized and the need to sign it arises.
