


ArmInfo. Armenia will appoint a liaison officer with the European Union Police Service (Europol). According to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the agreement was reached during a meeting between Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan and a delegation led by EU Ambassador to Armenia Vassilis Maragos, as part of a discussion on cooperation prospects with EU structures Frontex and Europol. The Minister emphasized the importance of having a liaison officer to enhance the partnership.
In this regard, the Minister highly appreciated the already established cooperation with the EU, noting the successful implementation of joint programs and the progress in specific areas. Sargsyan also presented Armenia's efforts on visa liberalization and reaffirmed its commitment to consistently continue these steps.
The meeting also discussed measures to combat drug trafficking and opportunities for expanding partnership. Additionally, the Minister and the Ambassador touched upon the upcoming visit to Armenia by European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner, noting that it will signify the start of a new phase of cooperation.
