ArmInfo. By initiating a criminal case against the Catholicos of All Armenians, the authorities have crossed another "red" line, by imposing a travel ban as a preventative measure, as noted in a statement issued by Vazgen Manukyan, the first prime minister of post- Soviet Armenia and chairman of the National Democratic Union Party.
According to him, each time another "red" line is crossed, the authorities attack the Armenian state and the future of the Armenian people. "It all started with the thesis of 'purifying' the army. By weakening and dismantling the army, they gave the enemy an opportunity to attack. This was followed by the thesis of 'purifying' the courts. They destroyed the judicial system, the independence of the courts, which had more or less been acquired over the years, and the mission of upholding the law. Now they are 'purifying' the church, targeting the 1,700-year-old pillar of our nation-the Armenian Apostolic Church. The next 'red line' this government will cross will be the life and family of every citizen. And here, too, they will want to impose 'purity,' ultimately destroying the Armenian people and our state. How long can we tolerate this?" the NDU party leader declared.
