ArmInfo. The demonstration of the features and structure of Armenia's defensive fortifications for the sake of the ruling Civil Contract party's election campaign devalues the idea and the fact that they are unpredictable for the enemy. This was written on his Facebook page by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the Armenian parliament from the opposition "I Have the Honor" faction, in response to Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan's publication of fortified areas on the border.
The MP noted that the detailed demonstration of these fortifications and their functional significance to the entire world recalled an event of the recent past. "Two years ago, together with several opposition MPs, we went to inspect the first examples of the fortifications. Upon our return, we prepared a joint statement outlining our observations and identified shortcomings," Abrahamyan recalled.
One of the key points they emphasized, according to the MP, was the need to take measures to combat sabotage, which implied visible actions on the structure's exterior. However, as Abrahamyan recalled, the Ministry of Defense then told them that such work was not being carried out so that the enemy would not notice the presence of a military facility in the area.
"This explanation even seemed frivolous back then, especially considering that large-scale work had been underway just a few kilometers from the enemy for two years, which, naturally, had been recorded by them. Now, against the backdrop of these propaganda videos, the entire process looks like a farce. For the sake of an election campaign, the enemy is being shown the features and structure of defensive structures, which devalues the very idea and the element of unpredictability for the enemy," the opposition leader concluded.
Papikyan previously presented the defensive structures of the Armenian Armed Forces on the Armenian Ministry of Defense's social media platforms and on his personal accounts.
