ArmInfo. More than 10 people have been detained in Vagharshapat. Sevak Khachatryan, head of the "Victory" bloc of the Vagharshapat Council of Elders, told reporters.
According to him, the repressions against the bloc members and their supporters started early this morning. "The searches and arrests continue. There's no precise information, as the number of those arrested is growing. Currently, there are more than ten. Moreover, some of the arrests seem unclear to us, as those individuals weren't involved in the election process, campaign headquarters, or any active campaigning. I believe this is due to the ruling "Civil Contract" party's fears following the Vagharshapat elections, which apparently haven't yet passed away," Khachatryan said.
As for the charges against the detainees, Khachatryan noted that it would be appropriate for their lawyers to comment once they have reviewed them. However, he mentioned that the charges were related to allegedly using the candidate's reputation to influence voters to support the "Victory" bloc. He expressed his conviction that the repressions are being carried out to instill feat ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia on June 7, 2026.
