
ArmInfo. US Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, will arrive in the Republic of Armenia on an official visit on February 9-10, the press service of the Armenian Cabinet of Ministers reported.
"This evening, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will meet with the US Vice President, after which they will deliver statements," the statement read.
Earlier, the Vice President's official representative told Radio Liberty's Washington correspondent that, according to the approved schedule, Vance will be in Yerevan on February 9 and 10, after which he will travel to Baku, where he will hold meetings on February 10-11. After completing his regional tour, the Vice President plans to return to Washington on Wednesday evening.
The US State Department announced that Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg will accompany Vance on his visits to Armenia and Azerbaijan from February 9-11. The State Department notes that his trip will contribute to President Donald Trump's peace efforts and advance the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) initiative.
On January 24, US President Donald Trump announced on the social media platform TruthSocial his intention to conclude an "excellent agreement on peaceful nuclear cooperation" with Armenia. The American leader also announced that US Vice President J.D. Vance would visit Armenia and Azerbaijan in February. "I want to thank Azerbaijani President Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan for honoring the peace agreement we signed last August. It was a terrible war, one of eight I ended, but now we have prosperity and peace," he wrote.
