ArmInfo. The second round of talks of the Russia-US-Ukraine trilateral working group on security issues will take place in Abu Dhabi on February 4-5, announced Dmitry Peskov, Russian presidential press secretary.
"The second round of the group's work on security issues was scheduled for last Sunday, but additional coordination of the three parties' schedules was required, and now, on Wednesday-Thursday, the second round will indeed take place in Abu Dhabi," he told reporters.
Peskov previously said that the second round of talks was scheduled for February 1.
The first round of trilateral talks between Russia, the US, and Ukraine took place on January 23-24 in the UAE capital.
The White House stated that these talks were of exceptional importance for resolving the Ukrainian crisis. "Numerous meetings took place over the weekend that received little media coverage but were of historic significance. US President Donald Trump's team truly brought the two sides of the conflict together at the negotiating table to advance peace," White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt told reporters earlier.
The Kremlin refrained from offering high praise for the consultations held in Abu Dhabi, considering them premature.
"I can't yet give an assessment; it would be wrong to expect any significant results from these initial contacts. This is a very complex matter, with complex issues on the agenda," Peskov told reporters on January 26.
However, he noted that "the very fact that these contacts have begun in a constructive manner can be assessed positively." "But there is still significant work ahead," he added.
