ArmInfo. The Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of Armenia has not changed its opinion regarding the development of official Yerevan's relations with the CSTO in 2026.
In the 2026 Annual Report on the Republic's External Risks published by the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), it is noted that the Service's assessment of Armenia's relations with the CSTO in 2026 remains unchanged from last year's assessment.
"In particular, the 'unfreezing' of Armenia's membership in the CSTO is unlikely, which we continue to view as a challenge to the authority of the regional security structure and a source of consequences for other member states of this structure," the document states.
As a reminder, Armenia has been boycotting CSTO events since the end of 2022. In February 2024, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared that Armenia had effectively frozen its participation in the CSTO, as the organization had failed to fulfill its obligations to Armenia, which would inevitably have consequences. And on September 18, 2024, at the Second World Armenian Summit, Pashinyan declared that the CSTO posed threats to Armenia's security, its continued existence, sovereignty, and statehood.
