ArmInfo. The Armenian National Assembly is planning to strengthen its anti-corruption framework by introducing a comprehensive risk assessment system across various levels of government and public organizations. The National Assembly will discuss draft amendments to the law "On the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption" in its second reading during its plenary session on January 19.
According to RA Deputy Minister of Justice Gevorg Kocharyan, if adopted, the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption will receive an additional function: to conduct corruption risk assessment studies in organizations specified in the law and providing recommendations to competent authorities on how to prevent corruption risks. The draft proposes introducing a corruption risk assessment system in public authorities, as well as in organizations operating in healthcare, social protection, and environmental protection. The commission will also focus on risks in the areas of expert assessment, construction, or investment program support. It will also monitor state and municipal non-profit organizations that have received subsidies or grants from the state budget in the past three years. The oversight also applies to state funds and commercial companies where the state or a municipality holds a controlling stake of 50% or more.
