ArmInfo. Armenia will establish a Day of Remembrance for Fallen Servicemen. It will be celebrated on January 27 and will be dedicated to those who died in all armed conflicts. Amendments to the law "On Holidays and Memorable Dates" will be discussed in the second reading at the plenary session of the National Assembly on January 19.
As co-author of the legislative initiative, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Ruben Rubinyan, noted, there is currently no special day dedicated to honoring and commemorating servicemen and others who died in combat. Therefore, the memory of the fallen is honored either on days commemorating various military events or on January 28, Army Day, which is more of a holiday than a day of remembrance. If the bill is adopted, a day of remembrance for fallen servicemen will be established on the day preceding Army Day, which is celebrated on January 28. This day will be recognized as a non-working day. January 27 will be commemorated as a symbol of faith and the continuation of life for those who died in military operations throughout history.
The document will enter into force immediately upon its approval by the President of the Republic of Armenia.
