ArmInfo.Never before in its history has Armenia enjoyed a more stable security environment than it did at 8:00 AM on January 14, 2026. This assessment was made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the sidelines of the 15th Security Forum "Armenia and the World at the Crossroads of Risks and Opportunities," while addressing the joint statement by Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the implementation framework of the Trump Pathway project.
Earlier, the Armenian Foreign Ministry published a document outlining the implementation procedures for the Trump Pathway for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project. The document was presented following the Mirzoyan-Rubio meeting in Washington. It is noted that the document represents a new step toward fulfilling the commitments made at the White House on August 8, 2025, to promote lasting peace in the South Caucasus. It emphasizes that it sets out a framework for implementing TRIPP. "This framework does not create and is not intended to create any legal obligations or liabilities for Armenia or the United States," the document states.
According to Pashinyan, official Baku has not yet responded to the document; however, he believes the proposed formula is fully aligned with the interests of the Azerbaijani side. Moreover, the Armenian prime minister is confident that the parties have succeeded in developing a formula for implementing the TRIPP project that fully satisfies both Armenia and the United States.
Nikol Pashinyan noted the role, "personal interest, and involvement" of US President Donald Trump in this process. At the same time, it will also be necessary to discuss with European partners the format of their participation in the TRIPP project. He is convinced that significant funds will flow to Armenia and the region.
"All of this is completely changing the environment around us, and I want to congratulate the United States and the EU, as this opens up tremendous opportunities," Pashinyan said.
The starting point for all of this, the Prime Minister emphasized, was October 6, 2022. Following the October 6 quadripartite meeting in Prague between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, French President Emmanuel Macron, and European Council President Charles Michel, a statement was adopted in which Armenia and Azerbaijan reaffirmed their commitment to the UN Charter and the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration, through which both sides recognize each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty (Pashinyan thus recognized Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) as part of Azerbaijan - ed.). "It was from this point that the process was inserted into a formula that was inevitable. Of course, different scenarios could have occurred, the events of 2023 in Karabakh might not have happened (at noon on September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale offensive in all directions, which ended in ethnic cleansing and the forced deportation of Armenians from Artsakh - ed.), but that is another matter, and I have already spoken about the reasons, but I want to emphasize the role of the EU in this process, since after that a very important event occurred - an EU peacekeeping mission was deployed in Armenia," he pointed out.
According to him, he in no way belittles the role of international partners and superpowers, but in September 2022, Armenia realized that it should not expect others to resolve its issues (at midnight on September 13, 2022, the Azerbaijanis launched an intensive attack on the borders of sovereign Armenia in 5 directions - Goris, Kapan, Sotk, Ishkhanasar, Jermuk - ed.).
"Until this point, as Khrimyan Hayrik said, we were knocking on 'big doors.' But then we realized that we had to make our own decisions and understand where to go next. Then the international community's involvement would be more targeted and concrete," Pashinyan noted. As a result, "while the rest of the world is in turmoil, Armenia and the region, step by step, at least in the Armenia-Azerbaijan context, are transforming into an environment of stability and security, and this is a very important achievement."
The 15th Security Forum "Armenia and the World at the Crossroads of Risks and Opportunities" opened in Yerevan today. Participants include Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Republic of Armenia Kristine Grigoryan, US Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia Christina Quinn, EU Ambassador Vasilis Maragos, Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan, and others.
