ArmInfo. US policy in Armenia will not change following the departure of Ambassador Kristina Kvien, according to a statement from the US Embassy in Armenia.
The US diplomatic mission confirmed that Ambassador Kvien will conclude her mission in the Republic of Armenia in mid-January after three years in this post.
It also emphasized that the United States remains committed to its partnership with Armenia and looks forward to further developing the strategic partnership between the US and Armenia, as well as implementing the bilateral agreements signed by US President Donald Trump and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the historic peace summit in Washington on August 8.
As a reminder, several media outlets previously reported that the US administration was recalling its ambassadors to approximately three dozen countries, including Armenia.
Political scientist Suren Sargsyan, commenting on this news, previously stated that Kvien had arrived in Armenia in February 2023. According to him, given that American ambassadors are appointed to the post of head of diplomatic mission for a term of three years, it turns out that Quinn will be recalled only a month before the end of her mission.
