ArmInfo. Funds provided by the European Union (EU) for reforms in Armenia are being used not for the people, but for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's ruling Civil Contract party. This was stated by Robert Amsterdam, a renowned American-Canadian international lawyer specializing in political advocacy and human rights.
"Armenian authorities are once again attempting to distort my words, as if I were calling on the EU to stop supporting 'reforms in the Republic of Armenia.' The money is not for the people, but for your party. The price of imprisoning innocent clergy and attacking the children of Christ is too high," Amsterdam wrote on his Facebook page.
As a reminder, the Armenian prime minister launched a campaign against the Armenian Apostolic Church in May, seeking the resignation of Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II. As part of this campaign, all dissenters, both clergy and ordinary citizens, are being jailed on various serious charges. To date, four high- ranking clergy members have been jailed on trumped-up charges.
