ArmInfo. Armenia shows the utmost respect for decisions made within the CSTO. This was stated by Anatoly Vyborny, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption of the Russian State Duma, during a Moscow-Astana-Bishkek-Yerevan- Minsk video conference dedicated to the results of the CSTO Collective Security Council meeting and the 18th plenary session of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
According to him, from the perspective of the CSTO's interparliamentary dimension, the Armenian collegiums, while seemingly not participating in the events, have stated that Yerevan does not object to the decisions made within the CSTO PA. "How do we feel about this? The whole world has seen today that the CSTO, the CSTO PA, is the only platform in the world where decisions are made entirely by free will, without any pressure on any country or parliamentarian. We have the utmost respect for the decisions made by our colleagues, and accordingly, we have no complaints about them. We also see that Armenia is extremely respectful of the decisions we make. It is not at all opposed to the decisions made," Vyborny said, emphasizing the importance of such behavior.
The Russian legislator also noted that all CSTO countries advocate for all issues between states to be resolved exclusively by peaceful means. He added that both Armenia and Azerbaijan are aware of this. In this vein, he recalled Russia's contribution to the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. "We are also committed to this policy and will continue to do everything possible to prevent loss of life and to ensure that any issues and conflicts are resolved exclusively by peaceful means," he said. As a reminder, Armenia has been boycotting CSTO events since late 2022. In February 2024, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia had effectively frozen its participation in the CSTO, as the organization had failed to fulfill its obligations to Armenia, which would inevitably have consequences. And on September 18, 2024, at the Second World Armenian Summit, Pashinyan stated that the CSTO posed threats to Armenia's security, its continued existence, sovereignty, and statehood.
