ArmInfo. Azerbaijanis have committed another act of vandalism in Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to a report by the organization Artsakh Monuments, Azerbaijanis desecrated and destroyed the 17th-century Yerits Mankants Monastery (Monastery of the Three Youths). "The published video shows that the church miniatures on the stage and the khachkar lying on the altar have disappeared. The lower part of the beautiful carved khachkar lying on the ground is broken. The sculpture installed in the right niche is lying face down. Photos before and after the occupation are attached," the organization said.
The Yerits Mankants Monastery was built in 1691 by Catholicos Simeon A. Khotorashen (1675-1704). The architect was Sargis, whose inscription is located inside, on the north wall of the stage. The architect tried to make the church similar to the Church of St. Hovhannes Mkrtich in Gandzasar.
