Only three options come to mind: Robert Kocharyan on why the  country`s leader is destroying the foundations of statehood

ArmInfo.  The second president of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, has shared his thoughts on why the country's leader is destroying the  foundations of statehood. "Only three options come to mind," he said  on December 6 at a meeting with his supporters.  "The first option is  if the country's leader is an agent, the second option is if that the  country's leader is acting out of ignorance and arrogance, and the  third option is if he is doing this deliberately and intentionally,"  he noted, emphasizing the importance of identifying motives.

According to Kocharyan, the fact that he is an agent fully explains  why this is being done. "If the Prime Minister of the Republic of  Armenia were an agent of Turkey, he would have taken exactly the  steps that are being taken today," the former president emphasized,  reiterating a previously stated thesis. "However, I don't have facts;  this is, of course, speculation. Although recently a minister  appointed by Pashinyan  stated that he has facts and will reveal them  soon. This man had previously served as Minister of Defense," he  said.

In addition, Kocharyan continued, it turns out, for example, that  "the country's leader is ignorant and arrogant." This circumstance,  he believes, is explained by the steps Nikol Pashinyan took from 2018  until his defeat in the 2020 war. This can be explained by ignorance  and arrogance, but that doesn't account for what happened afterward,  he noted.

"And the third option is that this is being done deliberately and  planned. There are cases when the country's leader personal interests   do not coincide with or conflict with the nation's real interests.  History knows of such cases," Kocharyan stated.

According to him, there are several examples that clearly demonstrate  the country's leader is willing to prioritize his personal interests  over those of the country. Specifically, he refused to consider  halting hostilities in October during the 44-day war, fearing he  would  be labeled a traitor. Secondly, in the interests of the  country, the leader who lost the war should have resigned, allowing a  new negotiator to resolve the issues that had arisen.  "He didn't do  this, which resulted in the surrender of the Goris-Kapan road, half  of Shurnukh, and more. I can go on, for example, when Artsakh was  recognized as part of Azerbaijan in Prague. This, of course, was not  in Armenia's interests," Robert Kocharyan emphasized.
