ArmInfo. The Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC) has demanded an immediate end to the unlawful persecution of Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan, head of the chancery of Mother See of Etchmiadzin, and other detained clergy. According to the press office of the Mother See of Etchmiadzin, the AAC condemned the detention of the head of the chancery of the Mother See of Etchmiadzin, Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan, on December 4 on fabricated and baseless charges, as well as his subsequent arrest, expressing its conviction that it is part of the recent wave of repression against the Church and a continuation of the political persecution against the clergy.
"The detention of high-ranking clergy on trumped-up charges is yet another manifestation of the authorities' anti-Church policy and hate speech directed against the clergy. Mother See of Etchmiadzin demands an immediate end to the unlawful persecution of Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan and the other imprisoned clergy, and the restoration of their violated rights," the AAC concluded.
