Armenia seeking best relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia 

ArmInfo.  Armenia is striving to improve relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia as much as possible. This was stated by Armenia's Ambassador to Bosnia and  Herzegovina, Ashot Hovakimyan, in an interview with Euronews BiH.

At the beginning of the conversation, the Armenian diplomat noted  that his residence is in Prague, but he also serves as the country's  ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and  Montenegro.

"It seems like I was appointed to Bosnia and Herzegovina not long  ago, but three years have already passed. I try to be as active as  possible and visit more often, so this is my second visit to Bosnia  and Herzegovina this year," Hovakimyan explained.

He noted that relations with the aforementioned countries are  developing at different rates. He added that relations with Bosnia  and Herzegovina were previously practically nonexistent. "I think we  already have positive momentum. Last year, political consultations  were held between our foreign ministries. I think our relations with  Bosnia and Herzegovina will be much more developed," the diplomat  noted.

Regarding interactions with Serbia and Croatia, Hovakimyan  acknowledged that the dynamics of relations are higher than with  Sarajevo. He added that there is always room for improvement,  recalling that Armenians have a historical presence in the region.

The diplomat explained that Armenia enjoys visa-free travel with  Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, as well as with many other  countries. "It is important to note that Serbia has a visa-free  regime for Armenian citizens. Moreover, Montenegro relaxes visa  requirements for our citizens during the tourist season," he said.

Regarding Armenia's European aspirations, the Armenian diplomat  stated that the Republic has not yet applied for membership. "We have  now deepened our relations with the European Union. Why Armenia and  the European Union? Because we are part of a great civilization. And  that's not all. Even before the law was passed, Armenia had  effectively begun reforming its public administration system and  democratic institutions," he explained.

The diplomat stated that the reforms are being carried out for the  benefit of the Armenian people, so that society becomes more  democratic, enjoys more freedom, and has more developed economic  relations.  "Joining the European Union is the desire of our people,"  Hovakimyan concluded.
