ArmInfo. The teaching aid "The Art of Ensemble Performance," authored by Professor Irina Krasotina, PhD in Art History, has been translated into Armenian.
The aid, which is intended for both teachers and students, will be provided free of charge to secondary and higher music educational institutions in Armenia.
The editor-in-chief of the Armenian edition of "The Art of Ensemble Performance" is Gayane Oganesyan, Professor of the Chamber and Instrumental Ensemble Department at the Komitas Yerevan State Conservatory (YSC). The translator is musicologist and YSC lecturer Nona Voskanyan.
The aid contains methodological and practical recommendations, including those related to repertoire selection, rehearsals, the complexities of reading musical texts, the dramaturgy of musical dialogue, the means of musical expression, and other aspects.
Irina Krasotina is a professor at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, head of the ensemble department at the Ippolitov-Ivanov State Music Pedagogical Institute, a Master of Spanish Music, a PhD in Art History, and the head of the Chamber Music Department at the Primavera Foundation of Armenia. As part of her work, Krasotina has been holding an annual Chamber Music School in Yerevan since 2023, which has resulted in a group of talented Armenian musicians, educators, and like-minded individuals from the Yerevan State Komitas Conservatory, the Romanos Melikyan State Music College, and the P. Tchaikovsky Specialized Music School. It was this close collaboration with this team that inspired the translation of Krasotina's teaching aid into Armenian.
Working and performing with young Armenian musicians, Professor Krasotina was impressed by their hard work, rapid progress, and musical sensitivity and receptivity. "Chamber ensemble is invaluable in the professional life of any musician: it teaches collaboration, interaction with other musicians on stage, building mutual trust and understanding, and fostering creative connections and friendships among young musicians," Professor Krasotina noted.
In Armenia, there are few Armenian-language textbooks for teaching and studying this discipline- primarily, the "Methodological Manual for Teaching Chamber Ensemble" by A. Berberyan and A. Izraelyan, as well as several articles written by faculty members of the Chamber and Instrumental Ensemble Department of the Yerevan Conservatory. Therefore, Krasotina's translation of this manual is of great importance.
It is worth noting that the translation of this work was undertaken at the initiative of the Primavera Foundation of Armenia. To receive the manual, simply fill out an application on the Foundation's website.
