ArmInfo. The ruling "Civil Contract" faction of the Yerevan Council of Elders, led by Mayor Tigran Avinyan, intends to restrict private vehicle access to the city center by the end of the year. Gevorg Stepanyan, a member of the "Mother Armenia" faction in the Yerevan Council of Elders, shared this information on his Facebook page.
According to him, Avinyan and his team are preparing a "so-called New Year's gift" for the proud citizens of Armenia. Stepanyan stated that those who have failed in governing Yerevan intend to take another step against the citizens of Armenia. "Those who supposedly solved the city's traffic congestion issue, raised the price of parking on red lines to 160,000 drams per year (if paid for the entire year, the amount is much higher when paid monthly and weekly - ed.), collected 2 billion 100 million drams, and failed. They created the ANIF 2 institution and allocated 480 million drams to supposedly solve the traffic congestion issue.
Those who failed in all aspects, raised prices across the board, and received a minority of votes, are planning to ban private cars from entering Yerevan's Downtown district by the end of the year. A small group will determine the make and model of the car that will be subject to the restrictions. The 'proud' citizen was turned into material for a fine and subjected to segregation," Stepanyan concluded.
