ARF: The visit of civil society representatives to Baku is not about  building trust between the two countries, but rather an attempt to  whitewash  Aliyev`s bloody hands

ArmInfo.  Neither peace nor trust can be established in an environment of humiliation, injustice, fear, and threats. Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a parliament  member from the opposition "Armenia" faction, wrote on his Facebook  page, while commenting on the visit to Baku of five representatives  of Armenian civil society.

 "The RA government allocated 17.5 million drams to organize  transportation for the Armenian delegation on a direct flight, and  the purpose of the visit was justified as strengthening trust between  the societies of the two countries. A sham trial of the  military-political leadership of Artsakh and other prisoners of war  is currently taking place in Baku. Several days ago, the Azerbaijani  prosecutor's office demanded the court to sentence Arayik  Harutyunyan, David Ishkhanyan, David Manukyan, Levon Mnatsakanyan,  and David Babayan to life imprisonment. Other our compatriots are  facing sentences of 16-20 years in prison. 

Meanwhile, civil society representatives in Baku have already stated  that the program does not include a provision for visiting prisoners.  In fact, this is not a step toward strengthening trust between the  two countries, but rather an attempt to whitewash  Aliyev's bloody  hands and legitimize the ethnic cleansing and genocide in Artsakh,"  the parliamentarian noted. He added that neither peace nor trust can  be built under conditions of humiliation, injustice, fear, and  threats. "All the aforementioned attempts by Aliyev and his  accomplice Pashinyan have failed. It should be noted that the  Azerbaijani side only held an open meeting with its agents of  influence. They have no connection whatsoever to the Armenian people  or Armenian civil society," Ishkhan Saghatelyan noted.
