ArmInfo. The proposal by former management of the Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC to reduce electricity tariffs was poorly substantiated and manipulative. Mesrop Mesropyan, Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia, told journalists on November 22 outside the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex.
According to him, it is about 0.02 drams, which would amount to 40 drams per month for the average Armenian family. "We can't lower tariffs mid-year based on someone's whims. Tariffs are influenced by many factors. We review tariffs at the end of the year, when we understand the impact of each factor, to determine whether we can lower the tariff and maintain it for several years, rather than raising and lowering it every six months and putting the public in a difficult psychological state," Mesropyan noted.
"I stand by my statement and I will not back down. It's up to Narek Karapetyan and other former colleagues at Electric Networks of Armenia to respond as they see fit. The truth will eventually come to light, revealing who is lying, who is misleading people, and who is genuinely concerned about the state and the actual electricity tariff. Time will reveal all," Mesropyan added.
