ArmInfo. Those primarily responsible for the defeats in the 44- day war in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone in the fall of 2020 not only remain at large but also display a strange self-confidence, boasting of their achievements. This was written on his Facebook page by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly of Armenia from the opposition "I Have the Honor" faction.
In this regard, he noted that one remarkable circumstance becomes evident from the court hearings on various episodes of the 44-day war. The MP noted that, although previously mentioned, the actual records of this circumstance can only be seen at the hearings. As Abrahamyan explained, during the war, military units were literally disbanded: one battalion was sent to the south, another to the north, air defense troops to the central direction, an anti-tank battery to an entirely different location, and so on. "Meanwhile, the brigade, as a key military unit, maintains its combat effectiveness thanks to the presence of specialized units that perform various tasks, from air defense to reconnaissance. If individual units of the brigade are not functioning or do not receive the necessary support, this significantly reduces the chances of successfully completing the assigned mission," the deputy noted.
In this regard, he noted that throughout the 44-day war, military units with reserve status were unable to engage in combat at full strength. Moreover, according to Abramyan, individual units of these units, as a result of various decisions by higher command, were disunited and distributed across different areas of the front. "Thus, during a single war, there were enough failures to ensure the loss of three or four soldiers, and the main culprits not only remain at large but also display a strange self-confidence, boasting of their achievements," the deputy concluded.
As a reminder, on the night of September 27, 2020, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, in tandem with Turkey, committed military aggression against Artsakh. During the bloody fighting that lasted 44 days, on the night of November 9-10, 2020, a statement was signed, with Russia's mediation, cessation of hostilities and the deployment of Russian peacekeepers to Artsakh. As a result of the 2020 aggression, Shushi and several districts of Artsakh were lost. Several thousand soldiers were killed, over 10,000 Armenians became disabled, and thousands of Artsakh residents lost their homes.
