ArmInfo. The country's ruling regime is threatening the families of members of the National Democratic Pole (NDP) party group, better known as Sasna Tsrer, with property confiscation. This was stated in a statement by the NDP press service.
The party noted that this persecution has been ongoing for many years and is taking on new, more dangerous forms. According to the source, a court decision ordered the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia to pay 4,064,380 drams, allegedly as compensation for material damage caused during "insurgent actions" (the seizure of the patrol service building and the murder of three police officers - ed.). "The current collaborationist government, presenting itself as the successor to the previous regime, continues to persecute members of the rebel group through the police and the judiciary. Failure to pay the specified amount will result in forced confiscation of the group's property, including the residential buildings currently in custody," the People's Democratic Party (PDP) reported, calling on Armenian citizens to support the families.
As a reminder, on July 17, 2016, a group of armed men entered the premises of a patrol police regiment in Yerevan and detained the people inside. They demanded the resignation of then-President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and the release of Zhirayr Sefilyan, leader of the opposition organization "Founding Parliament," who was being held for the illegal acquisition and possession of weapons. According to official figures, 46 people were injured during the seizure of the patrol police regiment and the subsequent events, 26 of whom were police officers. Three police officers were killed, ten were detained by the group at various times, and seven suffered gunshot wounds of varying severity. Seven of the injured were medical workers. On July 31, the Armenian National Security Service reported the surrender of weapons and the arrest of 20 members of the armed group.
