ArmInfo. MPs from the ruling Civil Contract party voted against a resolution demanding the right of return for the forcibly displaced population of Artsakh, as reported by Artur Khachatryan, a member of parliament from the opposition "Armenia" faction, on his Facebook page.
According to Khachatryan, during the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly session in Yerevan, he and other members, including Anna Grigoryan and Elinar Vardanyan from the opposition "Armenia" faction, Hayk Mamijanyan, the head of the "With Honor" parliamentary faction, and two Socialist MEPs, proposed an amendment requiring Azerbaijan to ensure the right of the people of Artsakh to a safe collective return to their homeland in accordance with international security guarantees.
"However, the ruling party's members voted against this proposal. Moreover, as reported by our European colleagues from various factions, representatives of the Civil Contract also urged the Europeans participating in the session not to vote for this proposal," Khachatryan noted.
