ArmInfo. The REAnimania International Animation Film and Graphic Arts Festival (REA) offers opportunities for emerging talent in Armenian animation. During the closing ceremony of the 17th REA, its founder and visionary, Vrezh Kasuni, announced that the festival's co-production platform, CoReAct, has deepened its collaboration with the Annecy International Animated Film Festival (ANNECY).
As a result of this collaboration, the best projects, selected by industry experts, will be presented at the MIFA International Animation Film Market, which is held as part of ANNECY.
Kasuni explained that last year, REAnimania hosted MIFA Director Veronique Encrenas, who expressed her admiration for the CoReAct platform and asked why Armenian projects are not represented internationally. "Now we have this opportunity. This year's winners will be accredited by MIFA in 2026 and will have the opportunity to pitch and present their new projects. This is a great honor for us," said the festival founder. It's worth noting that Kasuni announced the CoReAct winners during the festival's closing ceremony.
First place was shared between two projects: "Tasty Tears" by Anna Mnatsakanyan and "Trifles" by Mary Danielyan. The artists will each receive a cash prize of 800,000 drams. Third place went to Elena Nersesyan's "Creation" (awarded 400,000 drams). Sofi Mirzoyan's "Wolf in the Room" received a special mention from the jury. Financial assistance was provided by the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, and the platform was also supported by the Goethe-Institut, the EU, and the European Union Network of National Institutes of Culture (EUNIC). CoReAct's goal is to provide animation creators with the opportunity to present their work to international producers, establish connections, and find co-production and financing opportunities.
MIFA at ANNECY is the International Animation Film Market (Marche International du Film d'Animation), the world's largest event for animation professionals. It takes place annually as part of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in Annecy, France. MIFA serves as a platform for showcasing, promoting, and selling animation content, as well as for business meetings and partner searches.
