ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan links the future of Armenia's sovereignty and peace with Azerbaijan to the vote of the country's citizens in the upcoming June 2026 elections. He made this statement on October 27 at budget hearings in parliament. According to Pashinyan, Yerevan is currently working intensively to implement the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project. The project has numerous nuances, but the Prime Minister is confident that they will be discussed and resolved as soon as possible.
Today, Pashinyan confidently states that peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan is a fact. However, peace requires daily attention, as it is a completely unfamiliar phenomenon for independent Armenia, he added. 2026 will be a decisive year for the peace process. "The next parliamentary elections will be held in June, and they will essentially answer one key question: the people of Armenia must choose to become masters of the world," he said. Otherwise, Armenia will return to the logic of an outpost, he assured.
As a reminder, on August 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint "Declaration of Peace" in Washington. It includes a joint appeal to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to terminate the OSCE Minsk Process and related structures, as well as the creation of a transport corridor through Armenian territory that will connect Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave. The TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) project, a 42-kilometer road in southern Armenia whose management will be entrusted to the United States for a period of 99 years, is believed by experts to have the potential to significantly change the geopolitical situation in the South Caucasus.
