ArmInfo. Starting today, Armenia is ready to ensure the transit of trucks from Azerbaijan to Turkey and vice versa. This was announced by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on October 27 at budget hearings in parliament.
"For the first time, Armenia is discussing the draft state budget for next year under conditions of peace with Azerbaijan. "For a year and eight months, not a single soldier has been killed or wounded in gunfire on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Nothing like this has happened in the history of independent Armenia," he said.
He also called Baku's decision to lift restrictions on cargo transit to Armenia a historic event. Currently, the first batch of Kazakh grain will be imported to Armenia via the Aktau-Baku railway, and then via the Azerbaijan-Georgia railway. This also indicates that peace has already arrived, the Prime Minister believes.
"This marks the first stage in lifting Armenia's blockade, but it's important that we also respond to these statements and take appropriate steps.
Starting today, we are ready to ensure the transit of trucks from Turkey to Azerbaijan and in the opposite direction along the Margara-Yeghegnadzor-Sisian-Goris road," Pashinyan said.
Currently, this is the only option the Armenian side can implement, the prime minister added. "Our roads to Goris and Kornidzor are in good condition. Kornidzor also has certain infrastructure that can serve in the opposite direction," Nikol Pashinyan noted.
