ArmInfo. Ruben Mkhitaryan, a member of the "In Our Way" movement and Russian businessman of Armenian descent, was detained on October 20 near the Gyumri city hall. He has been unlawfully charged under two articles of the Armenian Criminal Code, as noted in a statement issued by the movement.
It is noted that the charges relate to Part 1 of Article 327 of the RA Criminal Code - participation in mass riots, and Clause 1 of Part 2 of Article 486 of the RA Criminal Code - interference in the administration of justice or an investigation by a group of persons by prior agreement. The "In Our Way" movement emphasized that a review of the aforementioned articles reveals the unlawfulness of the charges, essentially targeting Mkhitaryan for performing his professional duties as a lawyer.
"Ruben Mkhitaryan is currently undergoing questioning, and it is likely that the investigative body will request the court to apply a preventive measure against him," the movement added.
