ArmInfo.Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is continuing to promote the Azerbaijani narrative of establishing a transport route through Armenia's Syunik region, which would connect mainland Azerbaijan with its exclave. He has even provided a timeline for its possible launch.
"In Azerbaijan, all road and rail connections are set to be completed by mid-next year. We hope that other countries will also move forward with their plans at the same pace. If this happens, the opening of the Zangezur Corridor could occur by the end of 2028," Aliyev said.
He also mentioned that one of the achievements of the Washington summit in August was the TRIPP (The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) project.
According to him, US President Donald Trump has given his name to this project, which naturally suggests that it will definitely be implemented. "This opens another route along the Middle Corridor. In addition to the traditional route, new one emerges - through Zangezur, with a cargo turnover of 15 million tons, meeting the latest standards. Thus, the amount of cargo from Asia to Europe and back through our countries has the potential to increase on its own, but will also have even more potential for both receiving and shipping," Aliyev said, as quoted by local media.
