ArmInfo. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has announced the lifting of all restrictions on the transit of goods to Armenia. According to him, this is also a positive sign that "peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia is no longer just on paper, but is being implemented in practice," RBK reports, citing the Azerbaijani news agency APA.
Aliyev has made this statement during a joint press conference with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. "Azerbaijan has lifted all transit restrictions to Armenia... The first such transit cargo was Kazakh grain shipment to Armenia. I believe this is also a positive sign that peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia is no longer just on paper, but is being implemented in practice," Aliyev stated. He noted that active cooperation between Azerbaijan and Armenia has significant geopolitical significance. "Today, when new transport routes are opening, when projects related to Eurasian regions are being implemented, when the Caucasus and Central Asia are becoming more interconnected and often operate within a single geographic space, all this requires the constant attention and, naturally, the participation of heads of state," the Azerbaijani leader said.
The day before, Aliyev and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev discussed the Middle Corridor from China to the European Union through the South Caucasus and Turkey, bypassing Russia.
